- Remove the rear panel cover, be sure black spongy side of filter is facing out towards you. (If not turn around and try running unit again.) If it is, please remove filter and put to the side.
- Check the silver UV bulb shield, there is a small tab of metal that sticks out on the lower right-hand side, be sure that this metal tab is tucked inside the plastic, which activates the 1st interlock safety switch. If the tab is overlapped on top of the plastic, it is not activating the switch.
- There are 2 safety switches, one in the bottom of the unit (can be pushed down with your finger) where the filter fits into place, the 2nd at the top where the panel cover snaps into. The top one will need a paper clip, butter knife or something similar to activate.
Once both switches have been located, please plug the unit in, turn on the unit (you may need someone to help as you will need to hold down the power button and the switches at the same time) and activate both switches at the same time to test the unit manually. If the unit operates as normal, reinstall the filter, making sure to press it down then back and put the panel cover back on, listening for the panel cover to snap into place.
If the unit powers on when doing the troubleshooting, but not when the filter and filter cover are in place, suggest they filp the filter around from top to bottom keeping the black charcoal filter facing out towards them.
If that still does not allow the unit to power on, suggest the filter be replaced with a Genuine Germ Guardian filter.
